    ABOUT THE BOOK

This valuable reference is co-published by Black-Eyed Susans Press and Timber Press. You'll find detailed information about the book at Timber
although Timber is no longer stocking it. You can order The Plant LocatorŪ - Western Region directly from this link from amazon.com.

The Plant LocatorŪ lists over 50,000 plants offered at retail nurseries throughout the western USA and British Columbia, including Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.

The book is a compendium of plants, organized alphabetically by botanical name, with cross references to alternate names. The plant names are followed by codes representing the nurseries that carry the plant.

Complete information about the nurseries, organized by state, then listed aphabetically, is found in the next section of the book: how to locate them, whether they are walk-in or mail order, what they specialize in, whether they have display gardens, and whether they take credit cards, as well as their hours, phone numbers, email addresses, and websites.

    USING THE BOOK IS EASY

Just look up the botanical name of the plant you're searching for. If you don't know the botanical name, first look up the common name in the common name/botanical name index. Click here to see a sample page.

Across from the botanical name, you'll see the codes of the nurseries that carry that plant. Flip to the nursery section and look for the nursery code; you'll find which nursery each code stands for and all the details about the nurseries. Click here for the list of nurseries in this edition.

    A DEFINITIVE NOMENCLATURE RESOURCE

Gardeners and nursery people alike can use The Plant LocatorŪ as a definitive source for correct botanical nomenclature and spelling. We have checked each listed name against resources such as the RHS Plant Finder (a similar sourcebook for British nurseries, backed by the botanical research of the Royal Horticultural Society), Hortus III, the RHS Index of Garden Plants, and the A-Z Encyclopedia Of Garden Plants, as well as online references and experts and breeders of different genera.

    NOTE TO NURSERY OWNERS

If you own a retail nursery and would like to be included in a future edition of The Plant LocatorŪ , click here for information on how to get your nursery listed. There is no cost for listings.
