The Pacific Northwest
Plant LocatorŪ

The Unique Gardening Reference Book
2000/2001

  • Lists more than 320 Washington, Oregon, and Idaho nurseries and over 30,000 plants
  • Tells you where to go in your area to find the plants you've been looking for and which nurseries have display gardens
  • NEW! Common name/botanical name index, cross-referenced to plants listed in the book

The Pacific Northwest Plant LocatorŪ lists over 30,000 plants offered at more than 320 Washington, Oregon and Idaho retail nurseries. It is a compendium of plants, organized alphabetically by botanical name, with cross references to alternate names. The plant names are followed by codes referencing the nurseries which carry the plant. Complete information about the nurseries, listed aphabetically, is found in the second section of the book: how to locate them; whether they are walk-in or mail order; hours; what they specialize in; whether they take credit cards; phone numbers; email addresses, and websites.

USING THE BOOK IS EASY. Just look up the botanical name of the plant you're searching for (if you don't know the botanical name, first look up the common name in the common name/botanical name index). Across from it, you'll see the codes of the nurseries that carry that plant. Flip to the nursery section at the back and look up the nursery code; you'll find which nursery each code stands for and all the details about the nurseries.

The Plant LocatorŪ can be used as a definitive source for correct botanical nomenclature and spelling for both gardeners and the nursery trade. We have checked each listed name against resources such as the RHS Plant Finder (a similar sourcebook for British nurseries, backed by the botanical research of the Royal Horticultural Society), Hortus III, the RHS Index of Garden Plants, and the A-Z Encyclopedia Of Garden Plants, as well as experts and breeders of different genera.

Please email us for ordering instructions and availibility, if you would like to purchase your own copy of the The Pacific Northwest Plant Locator 2000-2001. Although this book has been superceded by The Plant LocatorŪ: Western Edition, it is still useful to you. Some plants are listed as "Last listed PNWPL." This means that they were in one of the Pacific Northwest editions; by having these editions you can know which nurseries used to carry them, which may be helpful in your search for these "last listed" plants.
