The Pacific Northwest Plant Locator

1999/2000

There are only a few copies left of the first edition, 1999/2000. Although the greatly expanded third edition, The Plant LocatorŪ: Western Region, is now available, the first and second ones are still useful to you; the new edition references the old ones for certain plants no longer listed by the nurseries that carried them before.

Certain plants will say "Last listed 99/00"; you will need the 99/00 edition to look up which nurseries carried them. They may still grow them, or be able to start one for you, even though they are no longer listing the plant in question.

Please email us for availability and ordering instructions if you would like a copy of either The Pacific Northwest Plant Locator 1999-2000 or The Pacific Northwest Plant Locator 2000-2001.

The Unique Gardening Reference Book

  • Lists more than 160 Oregon and Washington nurseries and over 20,000 plants
  • Tells you where to go in your area to find the plants you've been looking for and which nurseries have display gardens
  • Features specialty nurseries that carry rare and unusual plants and tells you how to order from them

The Pacific Northwest Plant Locator lists over 20,000 plants offered at more than 160 Oregon and Washington retail nurseries. It is a compendium of plants, organized alphabetically by botanical name, with cross references to alternate names. The plant names are followed by codes referencing the nurseries which carry the plant. Complete information about the nurseries, listed aphabetically, is found in the second section of the book: how to locate them; whether they are walk-in or mail order; hours; what they specialize in; whether they take credit cards; phone numbers; email addresses, and websites.

USING THE BOOK IS EASY. Just look up the botanical name of the plant you're searching for. Across from it, you'll see the codes of the nurseries that carry that plant. Flip to the nursery section at the back and look up the nursery code; you'll find which nursery each code stands for and all the details about the nurseries.

The Plant Locator can be used as a definitive source for correct botanical nomenclature and spelling for both gardeners and the nursery trade. We have checked each listed name against resources such as the RHS Plant Finder (a similar sourcebook for British nurseries, backed by the botanical research of the Royal Horticultural Society), Hortus III, and the A-Z Encyclopedia Of Garden Plants, as well as experts and breeders of different genera.
